Examples of Service
Helping others comes in many forms. A standard rule of thumb is that service is helping others without compensation (being paid) for an action that you are not otherwise expected to do.
Common Examples of Service:

- Serving, greeting, or lectoring for Mass
- Helping an elderly neighbor
- Assisting in a parish brunch or dinner
- Serving on a Mission trip (note: only 5 hours per mission trip will count towards Confirmation)
- Yardwork for someone outside your immediate family
- Babysitting for a friend unpaid (not your immediate family)
- Coaching
- SOTH Coffee House help

Service Information
Shepherd of the Hills and St. Matthew require 30 hours of high school service for Confirmation.
- These hours should be service within the parish and within the community.
- Reach out to your school guidance office for service opportunities in your community
- Watch the parish bulletin for service opportunities within your parish
- Hours are recommended to be spread out throughout Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior Year (approx. 10 hours/year)
- The Confirmation Class will have 30 hours of service as a requirement. (many service opportunities are offered within our parish events this fall alone just look at icons and click above for what's available!)
- We are no longer requiring a signed sheet of paper for service- the Service Hour E-Form at the button then google form down a bit farther on this webpage is sufficient
